SUSTAINABLE DESIGN POTENTIAL CONSULTATION FOR YOUR EXISTING HOME:

PROJECT STAGE: WE HAVE A HOUSE!

This service involves an inspection of your home and property to gather relevant information about the orientation, existing technologies, current thermal and insulative qualities, lighting, passive heating and cooling potential. We spend time discussing the way you live, how long the occupants intend to live in the house, how to increase comfort and health in the house, and what human and economic resources are available. With this information we can outline the potential of your home from a sustainability perspective, and what is going to be the most effective, practical and feasible.

DEVELOPING YOUR BRIEF: $1250

PROJECT STAGE:

Do you want to get the best outcomes from your design team?

We help you identify what ideas, problems, requirements resources you need to communicate to your design team so you are all on board to meet your objectives.

Our detailed questionnaires to complete help you to define all the types of decisions and preferences you will need to communicate, you can then use these to brief your team- . We meet on the day and help you clarify your goals and objectives, and summarise the most important aspects in an easy to understand diagram. Having a clear and succinct brief helps your project team direct their energies towards what you want to achieve, and helps stay you stay focused and make decisions efficiently and with confidence.

It is vitally important that you not only ask the right questions of your designers and tradesperson but also give them all the information they need, at the right time. Too often, clients come to me concerned that the designs they have ended up with have not met their brief or were not what they wanted. This outcome is usually due to a lack of shared understanding between the clients and stakeholders about what the project objectives and priorities were in the first place. This meeting helps you clearly define what you are trying to achieve and to list in detail the essential practical and functional inclusions that will form part of your brief.

WHAT OUR CONSULTING CLIENTS SAY:

“Megan is a pleasure to work with. She comes with a unique set of skills that are not common, sadly, in the market place of designers, architects, builders etc. I think having the Permaculture Design Course training is so important for people working in this area, and Megan seems to be deeply imbued in the permaculture way of thinking. As a result of her input, I have been able to reframe the project and incorporate each separate aspect into a more holistic vision, so that hopefully less energy input can create a more refined, useful and beautiful result. I would happily recommend Megan to other prospective projects.”

Melissa Abrahams: permaculture design consulting for a new family house/retreat centre

"With Megan's assistance we have drastically improved the (existing) design to include: improved layout, solar orientation, water harvesting and solar energy requirements. Megan is a good communicator and was very attuned to what we were trying to achieve."
