Scope
Fit-out of a new organic grocery store in the heart of a bustling Preston Market precinct

Briefed to fit out this family-run organic grocer's store at the Preston Market, Brave New Eco delivered a store that proved almost too successful, as the business outgrew it within a few years (our Rhubarb Rhubarb 3.0 project)

The brief was to preserve what had made the original store work: warmth, timber fittings, a sense of abundance, while resolving the practical constraints that came with growth: poor traffic flow, inadequate storage, and labour-intensive weekly reconfigurations. Existing fittings were repaired and reused; vintage pendant lights were retained and supplemented with track lighting; new shelving and equipment sourced second-hand where possible.

Timber, metal and cane form a palette that ages well with use, while colour and form draw loosely from the Deco era and from the produce itself, creating a space that is abundant, functional and warm.
