This grand Victorian mansion farmhouse once presided over ten acres of Northcote farmland stretching to the Merri Creek, and now serves as the quirky, art-filled home of a creative family who love its maze of nooks, crannies, and light-wells but needed better connection to their outdoor spaces. The tired early 1980s country-style kitchen (while charming with its original cream AGA stove and central table) had become dysfunctional for a family whose daily activities include sprouting, baking, and socialising. Brave New Eco created a Kitchen-to-Garden design that retains the room's welcoming atmosphere while bringing functionality into the 21st century, through Japanese-influenced design featuring warm, earthy tones with splashes of bright color, better storage, and improved connection to the planned productive permaculture garden.

“Megan was committed to using most things that still had life in them and did not pressure us to buy all new things. I like Megan's style of communication, she has a genuine interest in how we want to live, she listens and is persistent about finding solutions or products that suit the client.”
